Four members were elected to three-year terms on the ASCB Council beginning in 2015:

Tony Hyman, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, Dresden, Germany
Ira Mellman, Genentech Inc. and UCSF
Denise J. Montell, University of California, Santa Barbara
Samara L. Reck-Peterson, Harvard Medical School

Here is Denise's 100 word candidate's statement

As scientists we need thriving communities—laboratories, departments, universities, institutes, and societies like ASCB. Currently our communities face crucial challenges: historically low pay lines, insufficient reproducibility of scientific findings, the need to educate the public, and for improved productivity metrics that go beyond journal impact factors—to name a few. My 20 years experience on the faculty of a major medical school and now at an undergraduate institution, on grant review panels, national advisory councils, and as an editor of MBoC provide me with the necessary perspective to work with ASCB to shape our collective future.
